A Unique Way to Support the Zoo
Did you know that the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens is the only zoo in the Central Florida community. Or how about the fact that we have one of the most successful clouded leopard breeding programs in the country? That our black
caimen is one of only seven exhibited in zoos worldwide and we are working with St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park on preservation efforts of this amazing animal? That we have two of only 21 spot nose guenons in AZA-accredited zoos?
Or that we exhibit two beautiful Amur leopards and that there are only approximately 35 left in the wild? The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens prides itself on being unique and working with endangered animals. We strive to create experiences, educational opportunities, and conservation efforts that will teach our guests about preservation of around the world.
For example, the Zoo works with 12 Species Survival Plans (SSP), endangered animals impacted by these plans at our Zoo Grand Caymen Rock iguana, spot nose guenon, and cotton-top tamarin to name a few.
Throughout the year, the Zoo has celebrated many unique and exciting accomplishments.
Some highlights include:
- record attendance for the past several years
- 70,000 children visiting in organized school groups
- 20th annual Black Tie on the Wild Side - hosting it for the first time on Zoo grounds
- new exhibits including the Florida Amazing Amphibians exhibit
- new events and improved facilities
- and who hasn't tried our newest aerial adventure - ZOOm Air Adventures
The Central Florida Zoo is also unique because we receive very little tax support. Only a handful of zoos throughout the country can say the same. As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on donations to continue our important conservation and education work.
It is unique friends like you who support the Zoo and share our commitment to conservation and community. We hope you'll consider giving a generous year-end donation!
Thank you for your consideration!
