In-Service Credit Teacher Workshops

 

Teachers of all Grades

All of the workshops we offer are available to be scheduled at your convenience! With a guaranteed minimum of 10 teachers you can schedule your workshop at the Zoo, or we will travel to your school. Whether at the Zoo, or at your school, all of our workshops provide teachers with information and innovative ideas to teach a wide variety of topics. Teachers will receive in-service continuing education credit for attending. For more information, or to schedule a workshop call 407- 323-4450, ext. 122.

Wetlands are Wild
Middle School Teachers

Discover several ways to incorporate wetland studies into your curriculum, with hands-on activities easily adapted to the classroom. Explore the fascinating wetland ecosystem where the Zoo is located and meet, up-close and personal, animals that are native here.

Gardening for Wildlife
Teachers of all Grades

This workshop is designed for backyard or schoolyard wildlife gardening enthusiasts. Learn ways to turn your schoolyard into a wildlife habitat and receive ways to incorporate the garden into your curriculum. If you already have a schoolyard habitat garden, come prepared to share your successes and/or challenges with fellow teachers. Great games, prizes and projects and resources are part of this lively workshop.

The Wonder of Rainforests
K-8th Grade Teachers

This action-packed workshop explores the various levels of the rainforest while providing a variety of teaching techniques and written curriculum plans to capture the interest of various grades. This program also instills the concept that we each have the power to help save endangered habitats of the world.

Zoo Concepts
Teachers of all Grades

Don't be intimidated by taxonomy, predator/prey relations, animal adaptations, habitats, carrying capacity and other ecology concepts! Learn creative interactive ways to bring these concepts to life for your students.

Saving Great Apes
Teachers of all grades

Discover our closest living relatives, the great apes. In this workshop we will compare the species and marvel at the behaviors and intelligence of these magnificent animals. Most importantly we will delve into the critical problems facing all of the great apes' very existence. Several excellent classroom curricula will be distributed, including some developed by the Bushmeat Crisis Task Force. Also learn many ways each of us can become actively involved to help save apes from extinction.

The CFZP is pleased to partner with several environmental organizations to offer the three following workshops free of charge. These popular workshops are also available to travel to your school.

Where Do We Grow From Here?
3rd-12th Grade Teachers

This workshop provides innovative ideas to help educators teach about past, present, and future trends in human population, resource use, and environmental health. Activities help build an understanding of growth patterns, carrying capacity, and facilitate thoughtful classroom discussion. Receive a CD Rom full of activities, data charts and background reading.

Project Wild
Teachers of all Grades

Sponsored by the Council for Environmental Education, this workshop is available annually at the Zoo. Over One million teachers across the globe have experienced this award-winning interdisciplinary approach to teaching wildlife and conservation concepts. Includes resource materials as well as the Project Wild Book, a 385-page activity guide. (May be scheduled at the Zoo or at your school.)

Project Wet
Teachers of all Grades

Discover this national, interdisciplinary environmental instruction model focusing on wetlands and water issues. Sponsored by the Council for Environmental Education and funded by Florida's Water Management District. (May be scheduled at the Zoo or at your school.)
