Butterfly Garden

A truly magical sight—explore a wide variety of annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees that are selected to attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. Within the garden you will find a variety of nectar and host plants that support the life cycle of butterflies.

Health & Wellness Garden

Plants play a unique role in health and wellness as they encompass both the foods we eat and many medicines we take. Explore the long history plants, health, and medicine share as you discover a variety of culinary, medicinal, and aromatic herbs.

Browse Collection

Browse is plant material the Zoo uses to enrich the animal’s diet and stimulate natural behaviors such as nesting and foraging. Next to the otter habitat you will find a variety of examples of browse. As you travel the Zoo, look for the animals enjoying their browse.

Spines, Thorns, and Prickles Garden

Plants have developed defense mechanisms to avoid being eaten. Within the “Porcupines of the Plant Kingdom Garden” you will learn about three defenses: spines, thorns, and prickles.

Bromeliad Collection

Bromeliads are a large group of plants that belong to the Bromeliaceae Family. Throughout the Zoo you will find a diverse group of terrestrial (growing on the ground) and epiphytic (growing on trees) bromeliads.
