About the Central Florida Zoological Society

A 501(c)3, non-profit education and conservation organization that operates the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Sanford, FL.

The Zoo was founded in 1923 and enjoyed a rich & storied history in downtown Sanford, prior to moving to its current location across from Lake Monroe in the summer of 1975.

Twenty-three acres of the property feature lush plantings and space dedicated to the care of the 350 animals representing over 100 species in our collection.

The Central Florida Zoological Society, Inc. is governed by a 21-member Board of Trustees, chaired by Chandler Robertson of Sanford, Florida.

Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. We strive to keep fundraising and administrative costs to a minimum, so that more of the contributions we receive can go directly to program support.
