Beginning Monday, March 11, 2019, West Seminole Boulevard will be closed east of the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens’ entrance as part of Sanford’s RiverWalk seawall project.
The Zoo, along with Seminole Aerial Adventures, will remain open and maintain regular business hours throughout the construction.
“We’re fortunate to be situated across from Lake Monroe,” said Dino Ferri, CEO of the Zoo. “Sanford’s Riverwalk is a favorite spot for residents and visitors to the area. It is exciting to see the City of Sanford taking an active role in providing safe destinations to connect with our environment through this landmark project.”
Entry to the Zoo will only be accessible by eastbound West Seminole Boulevard from Monroe Road, eastbound 17-92, or Interstate 4. Guests will not be able to access the Zoo from westbound West Seminole Boulevard.
At this time, construction on West Seminole Boulevard is scheduled to continue through September 30, 2019. Visitors are encouraged to be mindful of possible detours and changes in traffic patterns during this time.
More information about the closure is available through the City of Sanford’s website at www.sanfordfl.gov.
