All three of North America’s bear species – the polar bear, grizzly bear and the American black bear – are threatened by habitat loss and human-caused mortality. Bear Awareness Day is a time to recognize how vital these large mammals are to the ecosystems in which they live and learn why it is so important to protect their habitats. Through hands-on activities, games, crafts, and Keeper Chats we will bring awareness about the important role these amazing animals play in their ecosystems and discover what we can do to protect them.
Be sure to visit the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) tent located inside the Zoo!
