Join us for World Rhino Day at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, and help us give PJ, the greater one-horned rhino, the warmest send-off as he gets ready for his next big adventure!
PJ is heading to the Buffalo Zoo on September 22 and part of the Species Survival Plan (SSP) β a critical conservation program that helps endangered animals trhive. He’s going there to help pass on his genes and grow the population of greater one-horned rhinos. It’s what he was born to do!
We’ll miss him of course, but this move is a big win for his species, and we’re throwing a rhino-sized celebration in his honor! Join us on September 20 for special World Rhino Day enrichment, Keeper Chats about PJ, rhino care, and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) SSP Programs. We’ll also have rhino-themed activities for all ages, including a table to purchase art created made by PJ!Β
Learn more about the greater one-horned rhino here.
This is your final chance to see PJ before he departs, so donβt miss this meaningful day of memories, education, and rhino appreciation.
The Zoo will open to the public at 9 a.m., and the World Rhino Day celebration will continue until 3 p.m.
This event is included in general Zoo admission.
