Get ready for a wildly patriotic celebration of 250 years of the United States and the incredible animals that call America home!
This Labor Day weekend, the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens is turning up the fun during Red, White & Indigo: Celebrating Wild America on Saturday, September 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The all-new celebration brings together family fun, live entertainment, delicious food and inspiring conservation stories for a day filled with animal adventures. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy music from a live DJ, family activities throughout the Zoo, special animal presentations, Keeper Chats and interactive experiences.
At the heart of the celebration is the Orianne Center for Indigo Conservation (OCIC), where the Zoo is working to restore the Eastern indigo snake to its historic range through breeding and reintroduction efforts. Guests can hear from Dr. James E. Bogan, Jr. during a special presentation and learn more about the Zoo’s hands-on efforts to return these remarkable snakes to the longleaf pine forests of the Southeast.
And, of course, there will be plenty to eat! The limited-time Red, White & Indigo menu will feature American favorites like smoked brisket, pulled chicken, potato salad and kettle chips, plus sweet treats and refreshing favorites including fresh lemonade, funnel cakes, Rocket Pop Floats and Firecracker Shaved Ice from Swirl.
“Red, White & Indigo is a great way to celebrate our country and the wild side of America while supporting efforts to protect the Eastern indigo snake,” said Richard Glover, Jr., Zoo CEO. “From live entertainment and great food to unique conservation experiences, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Guests can also enjoy all their favorite Zoo experiences, including giraffe feedings, Barnyard Buddies, the Herpetarium, the splash pad, train rides and more.
Annual passholders can enjoy Red, White & Indigo as part of their annual membership, with a suggested $2 donation at the Admissions window supporting conservation efforts at the Zoo’s OCIC. Admission is $25.95 for adults, $21.95 for seniors and $19.95 for children ages 3–12. Children 2 and under are free.
A portion of every ticket supports conservation; $2 from each ticket sold will benefit the conservation efforts of the OCIC.
