The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will be lit up with twinkling lights this holiday season—but it will once again be one of the most unique displays in the Orlando area.

The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens presents Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild, sponsored by T-Mobile, will return for the second year from Nov. 19, 2021 to January 16, 2022. The festival features more than 30 larger-than-life, hand-constructed lanterns lit by more than 10,000 LED lights. The result is a dazzling display of color, light and sound celebrating art, culture and beauty of traditional Asian lantern festivals.

The event was first held in 2019 at the Zoo but did not take place in 2020 due to the pandemic.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring this popular event back to the Zoo,” said Dino Ferri, the Zoo’s CEO. “People flock to this event, and when you see these beautiful lanterns illuminated, it’s easy to see why. We’re happy to provide a fun, festive and cultural experience for folks in Central Florida again to end the year and start 2022.”

The lanterns will be set up on a 3/4 -mile trek throughout the Zoo. Festival hours will be in the evening, and entry will require a separate ticket from normal Zoo admission.

The festival takes place entirely outdoors and is rain or shine. More information about festival days and hours will be available on the Zoo’s website, and tickets will go on sale soon. Online ticket purchase is highly recommended, as limited on-site, day-of tickets are available.

The Central Florida Zoo presents Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild, sponsored by T-Mobile is presented in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture Inc.
