Best things to do in Central Florida with kids

Now that school is out for the summer, parents might feel the need to find creative ways to keep the kids entertained while spending quality time with the family. But they don’t have to travel far to have fun and make memories together this summer.

Central Florida is full of amazing fun family activities and classic Florida attractions that will make all the members of the family happy, no matter how young or old they are. Whether you’re taking a summer vacation to Orlando or are a local looking for new things to do in Orlando with kids, you can find something to do on this list.

Take a walk on the wild side at the Central Florida Zoo

A trip to the zoo is a classic summer excursion for families with kids of all ages, and the Central Florida Zoo is the perfect place to spend a day. Older kids will love the thrill of flying through the sky on the Seminole Aerial Adventures courses. And besides the fun of a typical Zoo day, the Central Florida Zoo has special events for kids like Kids Night Out, which allows the kids to have a blast while the parents get a break. The whole family can even take part in a Night Hike at the Zoo! Our tip? Don’t let the Florida summer heat keep you from experiencing the best zoo in Florida. You can always visit early in the day to see the animals during their morning feedings or cool down at our splash pad.

Expand your mind at Central Florida’s museums

School might be out for the summer, but kids can keep learning by visiting some of Central Florida’s many museums. In the City Beautiful, you’ll find plenty of museums that are perfect Orlando kids activities. They’ll be having so much fun — they won’t even realize how much they’re learning! Visit the wild and wacky Museum of Illusions and enter the fascinating would of illusions while taking some unique family photos. See where curiosities come to life at the famous Ripley’s Believe It or Not! or try a more traditional, but still exciting, hands-on experience at the award-winning  Orlando Science Center, which always has new and educational Orlando activities to experience.

Take a trip to one of Florida’s beautiful beaches

If you’ve already experienced Orlando’s theme parks and other indoor Central Florida attractions, a day trip to one of Florida’s famous beaches is a must. Within a few hours, you’ll be transported from bustling Orlando to a beach that will make it feel like you’re on a tropical vacation. Daytona Beach and Cocoa Beach are two of the most well-known Florida beaches with plenty of exciting things to do near Orlando. If you’re interested in a Gulf Coast beach, check out Clearwater Beach or St. Pete Beach.

Relax at Central Florida’s beautiful parks

You don’t have to break the bank or travel far to have a fun-filled family day! Take advantage of a sunny summer day by packing a picnic and heading to one of Central Florida’s beautiful public parks. Take In the city or rent a swan boat at downtown Orlando’s Lake Eola Park.
