SANFORD, Fla. (September 16, 2024) — The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens is setting sail with the St. Johns Rivership, as part of its mission for wildlife conservation.
The Zoo is thrilled to announce St. Johns Rivership is the new sponsor of the cotton-top tamarin habitat.
The Zoo’s habitat sponsorships help provide for animal residents’ needs and allow the Zoo to continue with its mission to inspire children and adults to act on behalf of wildlife.
“We can’t thank St. Johns Rivership enough for their sponsorship of the cotton-top tamarin habitat,” said CEO Richard E. Glover, Jr. “It’s thanks to sponsors like St. Johns Rivership that we are able to provide exceptional animal care and offer educational opportunities for the community.”
The cotton-top tamarin is one of the most endangered primates in the world. Cotton-top tamarins gain an endangered status from issues with deforestation for agricultural purposes and from the pet trade. Since their diet consists primarily of seasonal fruits, they play a key role in seed dispersal and helping the forests continue to grow.
“This sponsorship reflects St. John’s Rivership’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement,” said Michelle Wyatt, Owner of St. John’s Rivership Company. “We’re excited to contribute to the preservation of the cotton-top tamarin and help enhance the visitor education and experience at the Central Florida Zoo.”
In addition to sponsoring the cotton-top tamarin habitat, as a special bonus, anyone who purchases a ticket for a St. John’s Rivership eco tour cruise in December can buy tickets to the Central Florida Zoo’s Asian Lantern Festival at group rate prices.
